Who we are
About Northgate
Northgate Dental opened its doors in 1998, in a converted Victorian terrace on Northgate Road, just off the Otley Road end of Headingley. It began as a two-chair practice run by Dr. Margaret Ellison and one part-time hygienist. Twenty-six years on, we're still an independent, family-run practice — no corporate chains, no sales targets, no pressure to hit a monthly quota.
What we believe is simple: dentistry should be calm, honest, and explained properly. That means we never recommend treatment you don't need, we always give you the full picture before you decide, and we'd rather you came back in six months than sold you something today. It's why so many of our patients have been with us for a decade or more — and why we now look after the children (and grandchildren) of people we first saw in the late nineties.
Our team is small on purpose. Margaret leads the clinical side, joined by Dr. Sam Okafor and our hygienist, Rachel Burns. Between us we cover general dentistry, hygiene, whitening, and children's care. We're registered with the General Dental Council and the Care Quality Commission, and we're proud to offer NHS care to children and eligible adults.
